With the U.S. economy at record lows, more local businesses are struggling and many are shutting their doors permanently and declaring bankruptcy. The number of Americans living in poverty continues to rise as government licensing and regulations further stifle the creation of new job growth. A new phenomenon has started to sweep across North America. They’re called, “Cash Mobs.” Organizers of these “Cash Mobs” gather customers to spend their money at a particular locally owned business. Annie Johnson, a mall business owner, said groups hope to organize one Cash Mob a month to build awareness and support for the local businesses.
