After being inspired by the local resistance to the militarization of the Keene Police Department, the talented Sam Robrin wrote the following song to the tune of ”Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night. Learn more about how to keep military style weapons out of our communities at ThanksButNoTanks.com.
City council wants a BEARCAT.
Uncle gives ‘em out for free.
They’re telling us that it’s to catch the terrorists,
But they’ve set their sights on you and me.
They’ll be using it on you and me.
That’s why we’re singing:
CHORUS:
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thank you for nothing city bureaucrats.
Thanks… but no bearcat!
Cops can do whatever they please–
They’re backed by City Hall.
They take laws, break them, or just make them up
Like there isn’t any law at all
It’s like there isn’t any law at all
CHORUS:
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thank you for nothing, city bureaucrats!
Thanks… but no bearcats.
You rule by [force], and not by law,
Like Orwell’s 1984.
Getting an attack truck, makes that clear–
It’s time to say “No more!”
We won’t take, or give any more!
CHORUS:
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thank you for nothing, city bureaucrats!
Thanks… but no bearcats.
CHORUS:
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thanks–but no tanks.
Thank you for nothing, every bureaucrat!
Thanks… but no bearcat.
I hoarded all the fruits and all the vegetables and grains
Kept em for myself but made a price that you could pay
And from this early pattern a structure did become
And that’s about the only that governments have done
I hired you to work for me so you could buy my food
Created an economy that barely gave a clue
That you did all the labor and I got all the funds
And that’s about the only thing that governments have done
I built a giant fortress where my family could reside
Filled you workers up with myths of patriotic pride
Filled my life with luxury and politics and fun
And that’s about the only that governments have done
I sent the children off to schools to be taught and trained
Into roles that benefit and keep the structure maintained
I kept them from their history and slowly made em’ dumb
And that’s about the only that governments have done
I built with brick a place for those who didn’t play my game
Who wouldn’t plow my fields for me or pay praise to my name
I built up giant prison walls so people couldn’t run
And that’s about the only that governments have done
I launched a million wars in the name of private greed
I killed off all the natives from the mountains to the sea
I murdered them with slavery, and small pox, and guns
And that’s about the only thing that governments have done
I gave you back some freedom in that silly Bill of Rights
Used all the proper language so you wouldn’t rise to fight
I fooled you all with imagery now look what I’ve become
And that’s about the only thing that governments have done
Yes I fought long and hard to secure my place on top
Through bombs and tanks and crack cocaine and violence from the cops
I kept you apathetic and this is how I’ve won
And that’s about the only thing that governments have done
I’ve been hearing a lot of people chanting “Ron Paul” a lot lately, so as a public service reminder SINGING > CHANTING. With this in mind, Fr33 Agents asked the talented Richard Onley if he could be of service. Not long after the following arrived: Continue Reading →
Just after I moved to the Shire, nearly two years ago, I witnessed a large and angry crowd transformed into the Shire Choir thanks to Richard Onley and his musical activism. I visited him at home, then near Keene, after this to learn more about his approach.
Richard has moved away from us but still composes songs out of solidarity for Keene’s Fr33 Agents. The following songs were inspired by recent events in Keene including the government’s arrests of Beau and Derrick’s arrests as part of the government’s war on drugs and my assault and kidnapping at the hands of Bob Tebo because I didn’t stand up for Judge John P. Arnold.
No one’s safe from them–it’s scary
They’ve captured our good friend Beau
Let him go! Let him go! Let him go!
Cops ignore murder, rape, and stealing–
Peaceful targets are more appealing,
Such as people like our friend Beau.
Let him go! Let him go! Let him go!
Help us out and come join our cause
To restore our–and your–liberty.
We’ll repeal these repressive laws.
Then we’ll be peaceful and free.
We’d suggest that it’s worth your while
To come attend his trial
Some day, you could could end up like Beau.
Let him go! Let him go! Let him go!
FREE DERRICK J.
to the tune of “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond
Derrick lit up
Right on the village green, po-
Litely spoke to the Keene Po-
Lice.
They say they serve,
But they don’t serve the people–
If that were true, they’d keep the
Peace.
Drugs…
War on Drugs–
Killing peace…
War on him,
War on us….
Free Derrick J.!
Dope laws get enforced by dopes.
(By dopes! Buy dope! Buy dope!)
But I can say:
Heroes like him buoy our hopes.
Dragged to the jail,
Where the Drug War-lords cage us–
One of their own outrageous
Crimes.
Derrick just laughed,
Dancing inside the Bubble,
Tapping out Taps for troubled
Times.
Peace!
Waging peace…
Liberty!
Peace on Earth! Peace to all!
Free Derrick J.!
Dope laws get enforced by dopes.
(By dopes! Buy dope! Buy dope!)
But I can say:
Heroes like him raise our hopes.
They
Sure
Do.
Free Derrick J.!
Dope laws get enforced by dopes.
(By dopes! Buy dope! Buy dope!)
But I can say:
Heroes like him raise our hopes.
(THE BULLY NAMED) TEBO DRAGS ‘EM
to the tune of the “Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” by Leonard Nimoy
In the Cheshire County Court in the Shire’s Free State,
Stands a prune-faced little bailiff just exuding hate,
Telling spectators, “Roll over!” “Sit!” and “Stay!”
With perverse satisfaction watching them obey,
or
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em,
Cuffed, across the floor.
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em!
Rule of law means nothing anymore.
Well, when we went to court, we were told to stand.
Those who didn’t–even Quakers!–were to all be banned.
Many rose to leave, Tebo blocked the aisle,
Then cuffed them and detained them with sadistic smile.
That judge tried tricks to make his heart look large
“We’ve punished you already, so we’ll drop the charge.
There are no rules here, except my whim,
But to sidestep all the blame, I’ll leave it up to him.”
to
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em!
Facts won’t count at all.
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em!
Watch the US “justice” system fall.
The classical image
Of Justice is blind:
First, she lost her eyesight–
Now she’s lost her mind!
Your sick system breaks
He who resists;
He bears–and proudly
The scars on his wrists
from
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em!
Rule of law means nothing anymore.
To compel respect, courts say we can’t sit–
They compel it since they know they never earn a bit.
But they’ve earned much more, as they’ll find out when
Justice turns, and balances her scales again.
and
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em–
Justice, peace, and honor–through the mire:
One example of the dragons
Threatening the freedom of the Shire.
Tebo! (Tebo!) Tebo drags ‘em,
Justice fades away just like this song…
The Freeman Family sends its warmest wishes to the Keene Bureaucrats this year. Maybe they will grant my Christmas wish and stop arresting peaceful people. Until then, I will record!
