Today is the 40th anniversary of U.S. Government’s War on Drugs started by Richard Nixon and continued by Barack Obama. But it’s not really a war on drugs, it’s a war on people, and some of these victims are friends of mine. It should come as no surprise that I refuse to fund it.
I won’t be able to make the drive to Concord tonight since I’m preparing for PorcFest but if you can make it, the details of the vigil are on Facebook:

June 17th, 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of Nixon’s declaration of the war on drugs. Since that time, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed or wounded across the globe under the banner of drug eradication. As the World’s primary funder of this campaign, the American Taxpayer must stand up and make clear that we must put an end to the bloodshed.
In America, the government arrests more than 850,000 people per year for violating marijuana laws. Almost all of these arrests are for non-violent marijuana related offenses. This is too many. The time is now to stop this War on US. Stand with us in a celebration of freedom, at a candlelight vigil to honor the countless victims of the War on Drugs.
